Aluminum Brightening & Polishing in Baytown, Texas

On-site aluminum brightening & polishing in Baytown, Harris & Chambers Counties, with wash water contained and removed. Call 832-391-8514.

Baytown sits on the north side of the Houston Ship Channel at the east end of the region, anchored by one of the largest petrochemical complexes in the United States. Fleet work here is industrial almost without exception. Aluminum brightening & polishing here is booked on site — the crew arrives with the water, the pressure, the power and the containment, and the work happens in your yard.

Aluminum barrels in a plant corridor go chalky within a season or two. That is an appearance problem for the operator and a housekeeping finding for anyone whose customers audit them, and ordinary soap will not touch it because the problem is bonded oxide rather than dirt.

The Baytown market

The petrochemical complexes here support an enormous contractor population: turnaround and maintenance crews, industrial cleaning outfits, scaffolding and insulation, catalyst services, welding and fabrication, tank and vessel services. Each runs trucks, trailers and support equipment that live in a plant environment and pick up catalyst dust, hydrocarbon film and salt off the channel.

Served off I-10, SH 146 and Spur 330, in Harris & Chambers Counties.

Typical work

  • Aluminum tanker barrels and crude trailers
  • Trailer skirts, rails, cross-members and rear frames
  • Polished fuel tanks, steps and toolboxes
  • Aluminum and chrome wheels
  • Bumpers, visors, air cleaners and stacks
  • Dump bodies and grain trailers

The process

  1. Assess the alloy and the finish

Mill-finish, polished and coated aluminum respond differently, and anodised aluminum must not be acid-brightened at all. Getting this wrong is permanent, so it is settled before anything is applied.

  2. Brighten

A controlled acid application dissolves the oxide layer. Dwell time is short and monitored — an acid left too long etches the surface it was meant to restore, which is the most common way this service is done badly.

  3. Neutralise and rinse

The acid is neutralised and thoroughly rinsed. Residual acid keeps working after the crew leaves and will bloom back through the finish within weeks.

  4. Polish

Mechanical polishing in progressive stages where a mirror finish is wanted. This is labour, and it is priced accordingly — a full trailer polish is a substantially bigger job than brightening the same trailer.

Where the wash water goes in Baytown

Contractors working these complexes are held to the operator's environmental standards, not just the regulator's, and those standards are enforced by losing the contract. A wash vendor that sends runoff to a yard inlet is creating a finding against the contractor who hired them. The containment process — inlets sealed, water vacuumed back from up to 200 feet, transferred into a 500-gallon onboard tank and hauled off — exists precisely so a wash cannot become that finding.

Containment is not a line item on the quote — it is how every job runs. Drain seals and booms close the inlets before any water moves, a vacuum system recovers the water from up to 200 feet out, and it transfers into a 500-gallon tank on the wash vehicle that leaves with the crew.
